AFTER JESUS suffered death and burial and was Resurrected, the Christian church rapidly grew in spite of persecutions. Within a decade of his Ascension, Jews and Gentiles gathered together in the city of Galatia with Saint Paul, who in the power of the Holy Spirit said,.. “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand fast therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” For this reason, the Black Robe Regiment, Allegany Division advances the concepts of human freedom established by our Lord. This is maintained also by the Christian Church. As well, these principles remain stated by words written in the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. Named as such, this site strives to follow the examples of religious leaders who were present during the Revolutionary War. These included such leaders as Pastor Jonas Clark and Lutheran minister Henry Melchior Muhlenberg and his sons. Traditionally therefore, we shall cling to the ethic of resistance to any exercise of political tyranny in either Church or state. In the Church, we pray and struggle for right interpretation of Holy Scripture and reject any eisegesis that attempts evil distortions for nefarious purposes. Rejecting the common fallacy of the separation of Church and state as a gross misinterpretation of Thomas Jefferson’s writings, we claim here the right to object in either written or verbal form to any illicit government activities running contrary to our founding documents. Any effort to undermine the guarantees of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness shall be firmly confronted. Thus we exercise our freedoms of speech and religion. We stand before God as an expression of the Christian worldview, without attempting to establish here a restrictive Judeo-Christian nation. We believe in Almighty God as Creator and cling to the salvation provided to us by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, for in him we have our eternal being. This is expressed historically for us in the witnesses of the Apostle’s Creed, Nicene Creed and Athanasian Creed. We subscribe ultimately to the prophetic words of Jesus, who outlined our difficulty... “Take heed that no one leads you astray. Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and they will lead many astray. And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed; this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places, there will be famines; this is but the beginning of the birth-pangs. (Mark 13:5-8)
