OCCASIONALLY a popular person in society raises their voice about an important, ongoing national issue. Such was the case made recently by a Christian music personality. In an interview, highly successful Lauren Daigle, a renown female vocalist... was preparing to make specific pleas to politicians in Washington, D.C. She stated in an interview on Fox & Friends that her concern and efforts were focused upon halting this nation’s neglect with child abuse. Her focus is being caused by the revealed statistic that thousands of children are coerced into sexually abusive situations.

As members of the community of Jesus Christ, we of the Black Robe Regiment-Allegany (BRRA) applaud and echo her concerns. We pray and recommend efforts to support her in this great cause.

Why so? Given the fact that we Americans statistically hold the dubious reputation for being the greatest offenders of this abuse, and this horrid penchant seems most prevalent in the rooms of the rich and powerful among us... it may be that D.C. is a very good place for her to raise this rant. However, I say to you that we Christians must pray fervently to begin. We know the breadth of the problems concerning the rights of children reach much farther, even into the hills.

According to recent statistics, approximately 300,000 children are missing across this nation. Many of these young people have been smuggled into this country from foreign lands to fill the demands of our modern

sexual deviancy. Consequently I ask you of the rural and small town communities, “What are we of the Church, and this nation to do about this rampant problem?”

Indeed! Children and other young people have been abused in the past by Church authorities, including priest and ministers and teachers. These are joined by evil government politicians, industrialists, medical and dental professionals, and other caregivers.

As for the Church, the evidence of child sex abuse by clergy, and recent denominational legal actions taken against clergy who dabble in child pornography... raise the hackles of many conscientious parents. Headlines concerning our secular politicians’ visits to Epstein’s island were covered in the media, where minors of either sex were featured as readily available to participants for sordid, even unnatural events.

Children have been sold by parents for drug money. Some have been raped by a parent, or another member of family. Abortion, being the ultimate child abuse scourge that persists in our society... often slithers along our church foundations as a demon hidden in the darkness.

Sadly, these sexual problems are not new. In the Old Testament we find this issue presented. In Genesis, Chapter 34, we read of the rape of young Sarah and the retributions caused. Having raped his sister, Amnon was
