primarily foisted upon those venturing by maritime travel in the Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea, caught sailing near the coast of Tunisia and Algiers. In keeping with Muslim tactics, upon capture Christians were victimized and received servitude, torture, rape and death. The only thing assuaging the onslaught was payment made to the offending Muslim power for safe passage or the ransom of captives. This international ransom tribute was the norm for many Christian nations whose ships sailed those waters.

 Within the following 1700s, freedom seekers saw the Revolutionary War fought between England and America. By winning its freedom from a parasitic power, America became vulnerable to piracy because it was no longer covered by England’s ransom payments to the Muslim raiders. This situation caused several parleys between America and Muslims. Eventually the disagreements and raids ended with battles in which the Americans won command of the seaways. Those battles, fought on the shores of Tripoli… are still marked as a notable victory by the U.S. Marines.

In our modern era, however, the concept of a Christian relationship with persons in the Muslim community in America still has been quite erratic. In spite of being a nation committed to the free expression of religion based upon our Constitution and its related documents, there were initially few collective Islamic interactions. winter weather conditions. Today then, we find that the Islamic faith expression can come to us in either Shia and Sunni forms. Islam as a religion thus far is followed mostly within urban and suburban settings.

 First we note what may be termed as a liberal Muslim faction. While adhering loosely to the tenets of the Koran, liberals operate openly in our society and gain from our economy as others do from American leadership and advancement in education, technology and commerce. However, amid those persons are fundamentalist Muslims who take seriously the mandate to overtake our way of life and conquer this nation. Being fundamentalist in perverse Koran interpretation, they commit to actions overt and covert, so to undermine our government and then institute as they have in other lands… their Sharia Law code. That antique form of Islamic law mandates a pyramid structure in society that promotes the Muslim and reduces the citizen status of unbelievers. The faith denigrates the position of women in society to objectivity and ownership. It commands the death of persons found of LGBTQ persuasion. This is the drive of fundamentalist Muslims, and it reaches much farther than we Christians might initially determine.

 You see, it seems that their fundamentalist aims rest on growing their population and influence in certain geographic areas. In the U.S., once a nation founded by Christians and their lifestyle, the influence of the Church and our biblical principles began to change. For
