As a former hospice chaplain, I have cared for many who were near death and have been amazed at the blessing of modern medicine to alleviate pain and offer a comfortable end of life. (Comfort Care) Christians fully support these measures. Let me conclude by saying the following: If you are suffering, please don’t take your own life by medical means. Your life is of great value, and every minute you live is a gift from the Almighty God. To take your life prematurely, regardless of the reasons, is to play God and commit murder. You are greatly loved by our heavenly Father. You are so loved that 2000 years ago, God came to earth, taking on flesh, to become fully man, while remaining fully God. He (Jesus) lived a perfect life and died FOR YOU! “For God so loved the world, that He gave his only son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but has eternal life.” (John 3:16) He died on the cross, having the wrath of God poured out ON HIM for YOUR SINS and MINE. In short, He took your sentence for your crime (Romans 3:23), so that you can be declared innocent by a just and holy God. Scriptures say.., “If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9) Repent (turn away from) of your sin, and trust entirely in what Jesus did for you on the cross, and you will spend eternal life in heaven, where there will be no more suffering, no more pain, no more tears. |
