Our descent into this sinful, national mess began with the acceptance of first trimester legalities for abortion. We’ve since gone downhill from that first ruling. It was easy at first for we many Christians to keep our heads down as we sat in church pews across this nation… that is… until scripture revealed the Truth. In appraisal, we have been and still are sinful. We sat like those Germans who looked away as persons during World War II were sent to gas chambers and ovens. Given the dire nature of our sinful condition then, we must read about how we are a nation within a nation… set apart by our faith given. We receive faith from the Holy Spirit and are forgiven our sin for the sake of Jesus, who died to secure our salvation. We therefore are called now to heed both the Law and the Gospel. The Word of God states… “When you come into the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination, a soothsayer, an augur, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a medium, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord; and because of these abominable practices the Lord your God is driving them out before you. You shall be blameless before the Lord your God. For these nations, which you are about to dispossess, give heed to soothsayers and to diviners; but as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you so to do. (Deuteronomy 18:9-14) |
